RE: Vocab-ability–36 (circum = around) – A More Powerful Vocabulary (earn UpVotes with “Vocab Practice” exercise)

in #writing7 years ago

MY VOCAB PRACTISE

1, CIRCUMSTANCE

After the show, there was an eerie circumstance around pay.

2, CIRCUMNAVIGATE

If Cook did not circumnavigate the southern hemisphere, we would not have found Australia for a lot longer.

3, CIRCUMSPECT

When I camp for the night whilst hiking, I circumspect the local area.

4, CIRCUMLOCUTION

Jerry had a spat of circumlocution, for he was so scared.

Really enjoying these vocabulary bites! :D

You used "circumspect" as a verb, but it's an adjective.

Re #2, are you implying that someone has finally found Australia?!?!? Where was it? :-)

In theory Australia was always there, but Someone had to explore uncharted territory to find it. I've probably used the word wrongly though! 😢
