I’ve been looking at you for a long time now. From when you were just a brick to your beautifully painted physique, I’ve seen your days and your nights. I've seen you in the dark when nobody could see you, I've seen you even when they'd turn off the lights. When the boy picked his nose and dirtied you, I could feel such fluids on my skin too; I’ve been dirtied all the time. When he brought a beautiful girl home and made love to her against you, I really hoped her body was clean enough to make you want her in the house again and again. But everytime a new girl would be against you, new body, new story, you felt so used, and I, could see through you. I saw your purple fading into white, I saw your skin getting peeled off of your bones, I saw the tears damping your face, I saw the furniture resting on your body, banging your bones at times but you were the shoulder to cry on for everybody, a support to cling upon, a friend who knows it all.
I really hope you are not that connected to the wall next you because you can see it holds my hand too. I don’t want you hurting more than the boy's anger hurts you. But you aren’t that forgiving either, you make his hands bleed every time he tries to release his rage on you.
Once, when a bed connected us through its ends we saw that little boy grow up in it.
He used to cry if his mother left him alone at nights but he's a teenager now, he hides under the blanket with his cellphone, locks the door and screams at everybody who knocks.
Humans change, they evolve but the best part is, we get to be through it all.
Humans!
They spill a million secrets but whisper them in case we have ears too. Yes, we do, expect our lips don’t work that much. They find a million ways to touch each other and yet fail to love and we, we are the parallel lines who can never meet physically but we move together without distancing each other no matter how far we go. They want to be together only till death parts them but my only hope with you is to die soon and scatter my bricks all over the room till your legs and at least get to touch you. I’ll wait for you to scatter your bricks too, so that they take the best of us to build a new one and finally bring us together to build something beautiful…something bigger than a wall this time, a roof would be just fine.
Good thoughts
