I don't really write poems, altough I love writing lyrics for the songs I compose on my guitar. Sadly, I cannot remember how to play this particular song, but, when a door closes a window of opportunity opens. So, seeing as I can remember exactly what the lyrics were about, I decided to turn it into a poem.
It's a sad poem and it is titled:
"Legends broke this way"
In a whale of a moment
Truth be told
Nervous endings
Damn near unfold
Desert in the sunshine
Teeter on the brink
Allow us to persuade you
Clever with a wink
No need to paint our sunsets
To remain in our good faith
Swim the muddy waters
And revel in your stains
Sentimental suffer
Medication drunk
Pass out on your back and
Six feet under sunk
The poem is about how many artists, particularly entertainers, live a double life. How they are able to put up a great show, but suffer in silence behind the scenes, struggling with depression, anxiety and many other unfortunate afflictions that cause them torment. I grew up battling anxiety and depression and when I wrote this song at the age of 25 I was finally getting past the worst of my own struggle. It made me think of the many artists we've lost over the years who, unfortunately, did not break out of the struggle. The legends we've lost because they finally broke. That made me feel fortunate and sad at the same time. I particularly had Jimi Hendrix in mind at the time, hence the last paragraph.
Please feel free to ask me anything else about the poem in the comments section below, I'd be happy to share more. Follow me to stay tuned for more :)

Your Wife says you are a Good Guy , so I guess it must be True!
Hope you do well.
Not sure if you are aware of it?, but in Jimi's too short life, from all the Drugs. He thought he had been sent here from another planet to show us the way!
Haha, thanks, I try. I did not know this specific idea he had, but I know that he had a whole bunch of very wild and strange ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, if you want to get more into the poetry and fiction side of things I know a great mentor who can get you some decent exposure. If you are interested send me a DM on Discord, I found your post on the TeamSouthAfrica server.
Thanks @chr7is, will do!
Wow. That is truly amazing. Deep words. Can you eleborate on your words " No need to paint our sunsets
To remain in our good faith"
Thank you :) The first two lines of that verse is telling artists that they shouldn't feel the need to go so far out of their way to keep the public happy and committed as fans. The last two lines say they should take pride in showing their vulnerable selves to the world.
That's deep. Wow. Incredible.
Certainly a lovely and deep poem! Stress also plays a very difficult role in the lives' of all and incidentally I have just posted about the danger of stress! Human beings are frail and we have to take all of the precautions that we can! Congrats to you for overcoming your own issues! Blessings and Upvoted!
Thank you, much appreciated. Please post a link to your article about the dangers of stress, I looked at your blog, but wasn't sure which post you're referring to.

Did you know that in Discord, The Writer's Block, they have a songwriting workshop. Lots of people to help evaluate your songs. I actually have some lyrics for a song, but I don't write music. If you're willing to write some music for it, I could share those lyrics. They are in that workshop now.
