There has never been a better opportunity for freelance writers as we have today, thanks to the internet. The advent of cryptocurrency makes it possible for you as a freelancer to easily contract your services with people around the world without the restrictions and hassles associated with conventional forms of payment. Although, recognizing this glorious opportunity means a few small changes in the way you go about your business.

Methods of Locating BTC and Altcoin Freelance Writing Clients

You can locate freelance writing clients by using websites devoted to freelancing for BTC or other cryptocurrencies, by developing a website that showcases your work and describes how you wish to be reimbursed, or by soliciting those who are likely to need your services and making it clear that you want cryptocurrencies in exchange for your work.

There are many different types of freelance writing and writers with different skill levels and experiences. Your level of expertise and experience will somewhat dictate where you are likely to find suitable clients.

If you are new to freelance writing, you can get your foot in the door at websites that broker relationships between freelance writers and clients in need of your services. While these sites are not completely unsatisfactory for more experienced freelancers, it is usually not the place to find the highest paid work, they are places to get some experience working with clients and to help build your portfolio.

Regardless of your experience, it is helpful to build a portfolio of your work online so you can demonstrate your skills to prospective freelance clients. Your site is a place where you can place your own advertisement for your work and let your clients know that it is your preference to be paid in cryptocurrency. If you don't want to put your portfolion out on the web, keep a set of files set aside that you can send to individual prospects upon request.

For more experienced freelance writers, for instance, those who have developed a particular area of expertise or do larger projects, such as ghostwriters who write entire books for clients, you may benefit most from directly approaching prospective clients who most likely need your services. A primary place to look for such clients is among published writers who write in your genre. Writers and publishers frequently hire experienced freelance writers, especially ghostwriters or co-writers. Networking with writers and publishers, securing some jobs and then working hard to build a good reputation will help reduce your need to go out looking for clients in the future.

List of Current Bitcoin and Altcoin Freelance Job Sites for Freelancers

At the following websites, you can try to connect with clients who need your services and are already willing to pay you in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. These are places where you can bid on jobs that are posted or post your own ads describing your services. Some of these include a system that involves trusted third-parties who broker the deal. In many cases the third party is optional. Some are simply job boards, where as others are brokers that may take a percentage of your earnings.

Any of these sites are places to, at least, get your feet wet and if you are more experienced, they are still worth an occasional glance to see if there is any work that suits you or to place a free advertisement, a listing, to describe your own services.

How to Request Bitcoin or Other Cryptocurrency as Payment from New or Present Freelance Writing Clients

Wherever you find your clients, request BTC or other cryptocurrency as payment. If you have a website for your services, prominently place a "Bitcoin Accepted Here" or other appropriate image on the pages to let your clients know that you accept BTC or other cryptocurrencies.

Offer a small discount as an incentive for your clients to use cryptocurrencies. If your prospective client-base is likely unfamiliar with BTC, then provide an explanation of BTC, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies and why you prefer them as payment at your site.

If you are working with new or current clients, offer to take a discount (for example, 5%) off your normal fees if they are willing to use BTC. Many major cities now have ATMs where you client can go to obtain BTC with ease and anonymity. (See BTC ATM Map at : https://coinatmradar.com/ or ATMs for Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash, and Stellar: https://cryptojunction.com/atm-map)

Do whatever you can to encourage your clients to obtain and pay in BTC or other cryptocurrency. Place instructional articles or videos on your website or be at the ready with tutorials on how to obtain and use it for payment.

How to Invoice Your Client for BTC or Altcoins by Email

If you are using BTC, it is easy to invoice clients using the invoicing system provided at blockchain.info, which is a Bitcoin wallet. BitPay, also, allows you to invoice clients through their system provided you have an account with them. But, you can easily directly email your client your own simple invoices using any BTC or other cryptocurrency.

Other options for invoicing a client using any wallet you prefer are Blockonomics and Bonsai.

Blockonomics: https://www.blockonomics.co/ The following article shows how it works: https://blog.blockonomics.co/peer-to-peer-bitcoin-invoice-1660e9439520

Bonsai: https://www.hellobonsai.com/freelance/invoicing-payments

But, you can very easily invoice your clients directly using any cryptocurrency you prefer:

The above options as well as most wallets provide a QR code for clients with Smartphone apps. Include the QR code in your invoice along with the public key to the account at which you wish to receive payment.

The public key you provide your client for receiving payment from them may act as an invoice number. Therefore, if you invoice a client for more than one project or phase of a project, you would provide a different public key each time. (It is a good security practice not to reuse your public keys, anyway.)

Because of the volatility of cryptocurrencies, your invoices should include an expiration date and time. If the client does not pay in the required time, a different invoice must be issued. This feature is built into BitPay's system, however, you can set your own payment deadline in the invoice, for instance, 24 hours from the time it is sent.

Place the following information on your invoice:

Contact details: Whatever contact information you wish to provide the client, such as your company's name, your work name, your email address, your phone number, and business address.

Invoice date and time: June 24, 2017 at 9 a.m.

Invoice due: 24 hours from above date.

Total due: The total amount of the payment due in your chosen cryptocurrency. Provide the public code at which you wish to receive payment and the QR code.

Description: Provide a detailed description of the services rendered for the client, including the project or phase of it, the agreed upon deadline, the rate you are charging and any discount applied.

After you have sent a time-sensitive email like this invoice, call the client on the phone to alert him or her that it has been sent.

How to Do Larger Freelance Writing Projects Without a "Trusted" Third Party or Broker

When you contract with clients to do larger projects without the interference of a third-party or broker, you can ease your clients' and your own worries by breaking the project down in smaller parts. Instill trust in your client that you will do a good job and that little is at risk this way because either of you can end the contract if one party does not deliver on promises.

If your client is not satisfied with your work, he may not pay. If your client does not pay, then then you do no further business with them. Both of you are taking a risk, but it is minimized by charging for small phases of a project rather than larger ones or entire jobs at once.
