Gayo or commonly called as Gayo Highlands is an area in the middle of the island of Sumatra, precisely in the province of Aceh. Gayo Highlands are part of Bukit Barisan hill in Sumatra. The Highlands are located at an altitude of 1200 meters from the sea floor and administratively, covering 3 districts, namely Central Aceh District, Bener Meriah district, and Gayo Lues district. The majority of Gayo community is Muslim with 60 percent coffee farmers. Gayo is also known for its coldness that ranges from 18-22°C.
If you visit the Gayo Highlands either by land or by air, you will find truly amazing sights. The green landscape, the rows of mountains, the cool weather, the Arabica coffee, the friendly people, away from the bustling words of the city, can be imagined, right?

Talking about COFFEE, Gayo Highlands has an area of 92,250 ha of coffee plantations managed by 66,101 household heads of coffee farmers. No wonder if Gayo became one of the best and biggest producers of ARABICA COFFEE in Asia. Gayo coffee is a variety of arabica coffee that became one of the leading commodities originating from Gayo Highlands, Sumatra, Indonesia.
Gayo coffee is now known for its smell, taste, and quality that is above average. undeniably, this is certainly not apart from coffee farmers' efforts providing special care for the coffee plants and special touches on coffee beans which then awake taste, smell, and quality.
The fame of Gayo coffee is now spreading to the world class because it has a distinctive aroma and enjoyment. The taste of the coffee also matchs the tastw of other types of coffee around the world. For food, Gayo Got Cecah (Sambal made from Dutch aubergine and shrimp paste), Lepat (Timpan typical Gayo), Gutel (Coconut and Cassava), Masam Jing (Gayo's Spicy sour), and many other special culinaries.
