After reading Auel's Earth's Children series in elementary school, and then being on LiveJournal during my high-school years, I'm a bit wary of erotic literature. It's not you, it's me. But, since it's you, Ilana, I'm going to give it a whirl. At least until the sexy times come, then I might run away, but we'll see :P
Some technical thoughts first: I wonder if this might not be a tad too long for the platform, even if weekly. I like reading, but it's probably a bit on the long side. Then again, we'll have you chart these lands for us and find out how long is too long, right? :)
I know you said before that you tend to have sentences that run on for too long, but in this piece, I felt the inverse was true, that some sentences could've gone on a bit longer, and been a bit more flowery.
I can already tell we're going to spend ample time with The Free Witches.
Oh yeah, "We need to recover overnight," had me chuckling, because these witches do so in a very particular way, don't they? Almost felt a bit too third-grade humor, but maybe that's just the inside of my brain :P
The writing was pretty flowing, the narrative moved in a brisk pace. I don't have too much to say about the content just yet, because, well, it's the first chapter in a Hero's Journey story, and they do tend to mostly be similar to one another. I could've seen a bit more time given to the place she grew up, friends, fearful reactions, etc. But well, this is the prologue, the main dish is yet to come.
