Your life hack is excellent. I began exactly the habit you describe a few months ago and it has soothed my mind and improved my retention + clarity of ideas. One of the easiest things I've ever done to make a huge improvement in my life experience. Journals are amazing.
What held me back before was feeling that I had to do it the "right way," writing daily entries like "dear journal, here's how my day went..." but now I just freeform and use bullet points throughout the day/night. WAY BETTER.
