Kings, Geezers and Bloody War (Chapter 15)

Hello my beautiful Steemits, another week, another chapter of patheticly poor writing done to assault the senses. I almost panicked this week as my computer was playing up and I thought that it was on its way out, but thankfully it was just a Malware virus. I had no need to remove the said virus as the sender was very quick to remove it themselves, with this kind letter of apology -

"YOU FUCKINGCUNT I CAN"T GETTHESE FUCKING SHIT STOOORIIIES OFF MY HARD&R#VE!!! FO& F$KS&@) IT"Z GYIND> @'LL PA __+++FMJIN S!!!!!)"

Wasn't that such a lovely letter, anyhow now run off and start reading ->

Chapter 15

The vast metropolis of Altenkirchen fills Motyl’s vision in every direction she looks, “Never have I seen as big a city as this, and so many people, I tremble at it all.” Ruff grunts in a cheery way and adds “Altenkirchen, is one of four massive cities but not the biggest.” Motyl’s eyes grow wide, “There are bigger cities?!” Ruff nods, “Yea, but I have only been to two, here and Flanderhoot. X’xui of the Mao is the largest, also the oldest.”

“Wow! Will we go there one day?”

Ruff shrugs “I’m almost 39 summers an assassin and I have never been to the lands of the Mao, ever, so yea, no!”

Motyl pouts but gets a bright thought, “Well one day we will go, I will make sure of it!” Ruff just grunts disapproval and continues walking.

After a time of navigating back streets and gritty allys Ruff and Motyl arrive at a small rickety door of a half collapsed building. Ruff knocks on the door in rhythmic pattern then he speaks words that Motyl has never hear before. Instantly the door flies open, startling Motyl.

“Quickly, in!” Snaps a hunched elderly man with ages of scars. Ruff grabs Motyl before she can react and shoves her through the door then he too disappears behind the man, then the man quickly scans the street before he slams shut the door.

Without a word the man indicates that the two follow him to another room. They enter a back room that is filled with goods, weapons and assorted armour. “So your back, and so soon after your last assignment, people’s memory will be fresh you know.”

Ruff greets the man with a friendly hug “I know, I took the back roads to be sure, no-one followed but I will be discrete, besides our task is of utmost importance.”

“Yes, the last time I received a missive like this from the guild masters, it was to end the Hussnook Regime, 58 summers ago!”

Motyl gasps “Oh, I know of this!”

“How could you, you silly stupid child, it was long before you daddy’s days” the old man snaps viciously. “She has been a nobles slave on more than one occasion, so she would have heard of it.” interjects Ruff.

“Oh, so sorry, yes you are right, she could know of it.” apologises the man, Motyl goes to say something more but Ruff gestures that she remains quiet.

The old man pulls out a scroll, some small tools and a few weapons and places them on a table before Ruff and Motyl. “That is the layout of the part of the castle where Princess Junta has been seen the most, these are the lock picks and thief fingers you will need to get through some areas and a selection of weapons I recommend for the job at hand Ruff.”

Ruff looks over the table and nods with agreement at the weapons, “These will do nicely.” The old man looks up and down at Motyl and his mind works. “She is new, what can she do?” Ruff smiles in jest for a moment “She can kill rabbits and governors with deadly ease.” Both the man and Motyl look at Ruff with a little confusion. Ruff continues to smile hoping both will get the joke, Motyl only groans in shame and the old man smiles a little but gives the impression that he is not amused.

“I say she be a thrower, knives.”

“No! Not knives, she just loses them!” interjects Ruff

“I do not!”

“Hmm, ok, let me see, ah yes, this will do her.” the old man pulls two weapons that Motyl had never seen before, but Ruff winced at the deadly efficiency he has see them do. They were half moon style sickles held in the middle. “Chickarangs, a good all round killing device and will return when thrown properly.”

“Oh my, they look beautiful.” Motyl reaches to take them, the old man pulls them away from her grasp. “These are not toys child, they are deadly tools, beautiful yes, but deadly, even to the wielder if not respected properly!” Motyl nods solemnly with understanding. “Good, and for you both these, Mitsrajim rider bows are the keenest close combat bows I have. Small but efficient up close, effective up to 200 feet, 250 in a pinch.” Both Ruff and Motyl examine the bows with interest. Finally he hands over two quivers full of arrows. “These are my own invention, the tips are heart shaped for better penetration of any current armour save heavy Remussian and made from a special blend of materials for several reuses, mine own secret recipe.” He gives Ruff a wink of prideful joy.

Ruff is impressed but hold his enthusiasm, where as Motyl is in jubilant awe at each piece. “Now if you need armour..” he looks Motyl up and down for a moment, “..there are several assassin leathers over there, you child look to need some.” Motyl is about to protest. “He is right, go, these rags are not going to keep you safe or quiet, and the Master’s selection is some of the best.”

“Heh, not some of, it IS the best.” scolds the old man, Ruff gives him a shy roguish smile then points for Motyl to go and change.

Once Motyl is out of ear shot the old master leans to Ruff “She is a bit young don’t you think, for you know what!” Ruff rolls his eye at the innuendo to the question. “Yes she is good with a weapon and has proven to me she has the smarts for this and no I am not banging her, she is old enough to be my grand daughter. Have I covered you curiosities.”

“No, it will suffice but let it be known that I have heard rumours that the child is marked for assassination.”

“What!”

“Yes, she has slighted your good Lord, both in the past and recently, so even if she makes the grade with this, she is to die by contract.”

“What the fuck is the cunt playing at?! He knows full well that if she dies, I die...” The old man holds up a finger upon seeing the approach of Motyl his eyes glaze over with a hint of old man lust, making Ruff turn around.

Motyl stood in the doorway of the room, fixing a bandanna style leather cowl to her head, making sure her ears are covered. She is clad in black and brown leather armour that hugs close to her small but ample womanly frame. Her strawberry blond hair flows from a ponytail, over one shoulder, waterfalling off a breast, to end at her firm young belly. Her young face, framed by the cowl, showed her full beauty, her cat like eyes shiny and thin. Ruff felt his manhood stir and shuffled to hid what he felt for her.

The old master breaths through a gaping mouth, “Son, if your not fucking that, you need your head read!”

Motyl notices their eyes upon her. “What?! Is my defect showing!” she quickly grabs a polished plate nearby and panics and fusses over her ears.

“What defect?” blabs the master, giving Ruff a curious eye. “Long story and no I have not seen it.” he turns to Motyl “And no, it is not showing, so stop fussing woman!”

“I say, she has curious eye, did you not notice?”

“How can I not, it is one of her defects of a harsh childbirth, or so she tells me.” Ruff starts to gather up the equipment and Motyl joins him. “Thank you master for the supplies, do we have room for the night?”

“Yes” bobs the old man “The Grey Cat Inn, over near the harbour, the week has been paid, food is out of your own purse.”

Ruff nods a goodbye to the man and Motyl gives her thanks as they exit the house by a back passage.
