This is an obscure poem/scene idea I wrote quite a few years ago. I'm yet to do anything more with it but felt it worth sharing, I enjoy it and thought you all might as well! It's about a "drunken" poet being observed by his crowd and the empathy he has towards them.
A draft of my "setting" shitty rough draft grammar included for your pleasure.
Another picture of the original pages, still to be finished. Any input is greatly appreciated!
(sarcasm) "Hear, here the poet begins."
(Gossip) "He drinks his weight in beer and gin!"
(False judgement) "Passed out with his pen, he lives in sin."
(Optimism)"But then awoke, and started again!"
(Pessimism) "So, look at his face. It seems he's cracked!"
(Loyalty)"The things you'd say behind his back!"
(Insight)"His genius works, his drunk a shroud."
(Ignorance)" Says he, who's higher than the
clouds?!"
(Anarchy) Made a mockery of the others judgement.
(Justice said to ignorance) "And you could speak, your skin so grey. How much have
you had in the "main line" today?"
There would've been silence if (vengeance) didn't say. " At least I don't go fucking around
everyday!"
What followed was silence, the first of the day. The poet, quite and perceptive up to this point, thoughtfully decided to say:
" Silence is short, but never so sweet. As sugar made light on a paved golden street."
"Conflict is burden that feeds on the weak. Gnawing those sinews that bond, while we sleep."
"Trust is a bond, but so easily lost. When you speak without thought, are your words worth the cost?"
At that the poet walked away. Content in the words spoken, and the words he spoke.
Nice poem.
Very informative.

Thanks so much! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it and saw something in it that spoke to you as I've been apprehensive about posting my poetry. If you enjoyed it I have another on my profile, and will be posting more soon, cheers!
