The Goanna took the lead at one point on this beautiful trek down Lady Carrington Drive. He waddled in front of me and I was unsure of how to pass (they're quite big!!), so I kept my distance and he eventually left the path and toddled off into the bush. Lyre birds scratched and black cockatoos with auspicious energies did their thing. Included in the experience was the uninvited fear of bushfire, since the day was so hot and the wind picking up. Not much you can do when you're 8kms in. Just calm and carry on. The fear soon passed and nature revealed itself once again.
