"It will nearly be your hundredth year", he said out of the darkness. His voice was the essence of bass and prestige.
"I know that I've never said it...but you sound a lot like James Earl Jones. Do you get that a lot?"
"Well Mr. Harper. It is your inner voice which speaks back to you. For, I have no voice of my own. I am merely the keeper of souls."
"Too many years of Star Wars", James said before bowing his head. He couldn't stand to the look at The Keeper. Not because it was angry or condescending; however, because he couldn't tell if those emotions where specters of a former life and that scared just about every one crossing over.
James replied, "But you don't really keep them...I mean you feed them to eternity. You said that's what makes it up, right?"
"You are aware of the rule of three?"
"Yeah, I remember. You said three souls every ten years."
"And why is it that you are currently short, one soul, Mr. Harper?"
"I don't know. I mean, usually it's easy for me, right. I have sex with them and we do the bind. But the bind doesn't last long."
"And What of Julia? Why have you not performed the bind?"
"I don't know that I want to with her."
"Does she not please the eyes and warm the heart? Is there not a chariot of lust attached with every thought of her? Or is she not pedestal worthy?"
"Yes but..."
"Mr. Harper, you have lived in fear your entire life. Will you do so also in death?"
"The torture that we go through when the bind is broken..."
"I can not offer advice; however, you must be informed. Three months until you cease."
"What if something goes wrong and she turns into one of them? What then?"
"Even succubi serve a purpose."
"What? To swallow the souls of humanity?!"
"Three months and nothing more, Mr. Harper."

This one is a very short story I wrote some time ago. I hope to have some feedback on it and am considering creating it as a chapter by chapter here on steemit. Hope that it wasn't too bad for a first post!
Hey, that was pretty cool. It definitely sounds like a series. Hope to hear more.
Awesome thanks for the positive feedback. I hope to do more.
