Scientific Name: Pyxicephalus adspersus
The African bullfrog is one of the largest frogs in Africa. It has a chubby round body and big broad head, with a large mouth. Its front feet have short blunt toes, with no webbing, while its hind legs are strong and are used to dig holes. Hind feet have webbing. Its skin is bumpy and olive green in colour, with a cream or yellow-coloured belly and throat. This helps them camouflage with their surroundings.
Countries in Africa where you can find bullfrogs are
Nigeria, Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique just to mention few.

The African bullfrog is a voracious carnivore, eating insects, small rodents, reptiles, small birds, and other amphibians
They rely on their keen sense of smell and sight in order to hunt for food. They also use roar-like calls to locate mates and alert others to danger.
Frog legs are one of the better-known delicacies of French and Chinese cuisine. The legs of edible frogs are also consumed in other parts of the world, including Vietnam, Spain, northern Italy, Indonesia, etc.......
Frog legs are rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and potassium.
They are often said to taste like chicken because of their mild flavour, with texture most similar to chicken wings. The taste and texture of frog meat is approximately between chicken and fish.

My greatest shock about this African bullfrog is their life span..
Some of them even live long more than human....
Their life span is 35-40years
In the dry season, they will bury themselves underground for 10 months-two years. With reptiles and amphibians this process is called brumation.
The breeding is normally during raining season,,, where the female Africa bullfrog will lay about 4,000 eggs in shallow pools of water. After just 2 days, the tadpoles emerge. After several weeks the tadpoles lose their tails. Juveniles are striped. Bullfrogs reach sexual maturity by 3 years of age but will continue to grow for up to 20 years.
The African bullfrog is an exotic pet in many countries around the world, and owning it is not prohibited by any laws......
