God, how boredom creeps in, like a gigantic snake, to swallow up the last vestiges of our already empty lives! How it slithers through the reckless labyrinths we set up to channel our egoisms, only to stand on the accursed pinnacle (some call it 'destiny'), bare and pitiless, primed to satiate its infernal appetites! The common man, as twilight spreads its ominous wings, flails and straggles about this dredged-up solitude, in search of evasions. Beside me, on the right, there are people, some lying on the floor, some reclined on a shriveled tree, drunk or dead. On the left, a large woman, with half-awake blood-shot eyes, carrying a child on her lap, twirling slowly into the exhausted dreams of hard times.
God, how loud they speak, yet no one hears them! How brave is this din of oppressed voices, battering the earth! It is boredom, the enchanted silence that wrings out demons from trees, air, dust and stones! Let me awaken, oh heavens, that I may return back to sleep once more...
