Chapter 11. The Day "X"

Continued...

After greeting the girl, Maxim asked how she was doing and whether her plans had changed. Pelagia laughed and assured the young man that all agreements remained in force.

– Don't change your mind. And then two trusting young girls will come on a date, and there are no Cavaliers as there is no)).

– Don't worry about it, we can't wait for the hour when we'll meet with you. Don't be late! We still wanted to walk around the city after the cafe, remember?

– I have an excellent memory, – Pelagia laughed again.

– How do I recognize you? – Maxim asked.

– You've seen my picture, haven't you? Yes, I have changed a little in the time that has passed since it was made, but not so much that you don't recognize me.

– Can you show me a picture of your girlfriend? To know what it looks like in advance...

– You're a sly one, – the girl laughed again. – No, I don't have a picture of her. And let it be a little surprise for you. How? Don't even try to ask – I won't tell you! And I don't have time, I have a lot to do. We seem to have already agreed on everything. In General, bye, see you on Sunday!

Pelageya passed out, and Max, slightly dissatisfied with the fact that nothing could be found out about the girl's friend, went to bed.

The remaining days passed quickly. Moreover, the production business did not let you get bored. The chief had thrown in a lot of urgent work, and max actually had to stay at work and take the papers home. It was necessary to work even on Saturday, and the young man in this bustle almost forgot to reserve a table in a cafe in advance, making it at the last moment.

And now, at last, the long-awaited day has arrived... Maxim woke up earlier than usual, very nervous. While preparing a modest bachelor dinner, he even managed to burn his hand and even slightly over-cook his signature fried eggs, which he prepared according to a recipe known only to him.

When he finished his Breakfast, he checked his email. Unfortunately, there were no letters from Pelagia. Actually, as well as from anyone else. With a heavy sigh, he pushed his laptop aside, got up from the chair, and went to the closet where all his suits and shirts, lovingly pressed by his own hand, hung on hangers. "Bachelor life has its advantages" - he grinned mirthlessly - " so many useful skills have to be mastered."

Time passed slowly. Just before dinner, Slavka called and suggested that we meet somewhere in the city. But Maxim refused and said:

– You'd better come to my place and buy some pizza on the way." Or better yet, I'll order it myself with home delivery.
