Sophia’s Flute

Ekemili is Sophia's long standing friend. This friendship took them through the scorching heat of African Savannah and through the swamps, floods and high humidity of the thick rain forest of southern Nigeria. Neither lack and poverty nor occasional sprinkles and drizzles of affluence could sever the unequalled relationship. Onlookers get excited to see Ekemili and Sophia lovingly exchange smiles and pleasantries. They behave like sisters born by the same parents. After a long holiday in London, Ekemili returned to Nigeria and paid his beloved friend an impromptu visit. On arrival, she knocked at the friend's door to enter. "Yes" a gentle voice answered from inside a room, "please come in". The sitting room door was opened noiselessly from inside. On entering the room the first sight shocked Ekemili to the marrow, "What do you carry Sophia? Have you become a soldier?” What Sophia was holding wear the appearance of a gun at a glance. "I am not a soldier and do not handle gun". What you see in my hand is a flute for expressing my talent. This flute has taken me to places and is putting unending income on my palms. "Congratulations", Ekemili complimented with amazing delight.
