Writing activities are done with various purposes. Writing has four purposes, namely to express themselves, provide information to the reader, persuasive the reader, and to produce papers. The type of writing itself can be distinguished according to the purpose of writing, among others:

- Narrative is a written or expository or imaginative writings that specifically convey certain information in the form of actions or actions that occur in a series of time.
Example:

Tempat pertama yang saya kunjungi adalah Sintawang. Waktu tempuh menuju Sintawang kurang lebih sembilan jam dari Pontianak jika menggunakan mobil, daerah ini terkenal sebagai penghasil tenun ikat. Motif tenun ikatnya sangat unik dan coraknya sangat khas Kalimantan Barat. Harga tenun ikat ini tergolong mahal, tergantung motif dan bahannya. Harganya bisa mencapai ratusan ribu, bahkan jutaan Rupiah.

Example:
The natural scenery in the sights is very beautiful. The trees around the cliffs look green and thrive. From the sidelines of the cliffs out the waterfall with a swift. It's white like cotton. His voice echoed into the sky covering the sound of birds chirping. Then, form a clear river stream. Large black stones adorn the river. The green grasses add to the coolness. The wind was blowing the scent of the wildflowers that grew around it.

Contoh:
Pemandangan alam di tempat wisata itu indah sekali. Pohon-pohon di sekitar tebing tampak hijau dan tumbuh dengan subur. Dari sela-sela tebing keluar air terjun dengan deras. Warnanya putih seperti kapas. Suaranya menggema ke angkasa menutupi suara burung-burung berkicau. Kemudian, membentuk aliran sungai yang bening. Batu-batu besar tampak hitam menghiasi sungai. Rerumputan terhampar hijau menambah suasana menjadi tambah sejuk. Angin bertiup menyebarkan aroma bunga liar yang tumbuh di sekitar itu.

Pilot tidak bisa mengendalikan pesawat akibat keseimbangan pesawat mendadak berubah dengan jatuhnya mesin berbobot sekitar 5 ton. Pesawat mendarat dan menghujam tempat parkir kendaraan 31 detik kemudian dan 271 penumpang plus awak tewas seketika. Kecelakaan lain menyangkut mesin copot dialami oleh pesawat kargo El-Al milik flag carier Israel, 4 Oktober 1992. Mesin nomor empat atau yang paling ujung pada sayap kanan, tiba-tiba lepas akibat dua fuse-pin (baut kedudukan mesin) lepas. Disusul kemudian oleh mesin nomor tiga. Mendadak kehilangan dua mesin, pilot tidak dapat mengendalikan pesawat dan menabrak gedung bertingkat di Amsterdam, Belanda. Empat awak tewas berikut 47 penghuni flat yang ditabrak.

Pendidikan gratis hanya janji yang bergema luas saat kampanye dan pemilihan pimpinan daerah maupun pusat. Saat pemilihan usai akan lain ceritanya. Anak-anak miskin di kota, desa, dan pedalaman tetap mengalami kesulitan untuk mengakses pendidikan yang layak. Di perkotaan sekolah berlomba-lomba meningkatkan sarana dan prasaran dengan jalan menaikkan pungutan dengan dalil sumbangan pendidikan, uang gedung, dan lain-lain karena biasanya masyarakat perkotaan lebih memilih sekolah yang mempunyai sarana pendidikan yang baik sehingga mereka tidak akan segan untuk membayar mahal demi memberikan pendidikan yang terbaik bagi anak-anak mereka.

Writing as one of the language skills can not be separated from other aspects of language skills.
Menulis sebagai salah satu keterampilan berbahasa tak dapat dilepaskan dari aspek-aspek keterampilan berbahasa lain.
