I'll First List My Points before I Start Explaining. They Include:

• Following Just Anyone on Steemit.
• Being Just a Curator and Not An Author.
• Copy And Pasting Peoples Work Verbatim.
• Growing Impatient With Steemit Already.
• Posting Just Any Random Content.
• Begging For Upvote, Resteem Or Reply.
• Making Post Too Short Or Too Long.
• Not Using Tags, Using Irrelevant Tags or Using Only Popular Tags.
• Not Using Pictures in Steemit Posts.
• Not Using Steemit Chat Groups.

NOW LET’S DIVE RIGHT IN...

(1) FOLLOWING JUST ANYONE ON STEEMIT- In as much as you want you feed to be filled with posts and also create a large follower list, you should make sure it's filled with contents you are interested in. When your feed is filled with contents you understand and interested in, you begin to leave meaningful replies on a post, hence getting an upvote from the author.
Advice on This : Don't just follow people because they follwed you.

(2)BEING JUST A CURATOR AND NOT AN AUTHOR- I understand the fact that not everyone can write original contents but everyone on Steemit at this stage should be building their blog because lots of people are coming in on Steemit every day. Soon before a post is even dropped, it’s getting hundreds of comments already and you don't expect the authors to like them all. Hence, you are out of business.
ADVICE : You will never know how well you can write till you start. Start first and watch your writing skills improve daily.

(3) COPYING PEOPLES WORK VERBATIM :This practice is very bad and doesn't help you at all in the long run. Worst thing that can happen to you on Steemit is to get flagged by a whale or something close. This will immediately bury your reputation on Steemit. Reduce all chances of being flagged on Steemit by creating contents yourself, because reputation is hard to build or increase on steemit.
ADVICE :Let People know the real you. Let people see your strengths and flaws so they can grow with you. Be original and be real.

(4) GROWING IMPATIENT WITH STEEMIT ALREADY- This is normal especially those who had the idea that steemit is a "get rich quick scheme". To start making decent money on Steemit, it needs time. Your post may get no upvote or comment first month, but if you are steady and consistent, you will start seeing results definitely in the next months.
ADVICE : Be patient, even those that get a lot of Upvotes today were once in your situation, so just chill. Relax and have fun.

(5) POSTING JUST ANY RANDOM CONTENT- In as much as Steemit doesn't restrict authors to just one niche like blogging does, it is important and expected you should have at least one or two niche on Steemit. This helps people connect with you, vibe with your reasoning and follow you too. This makes sure you have followers waiting for you to drop your next post, hence commenting and Upvoting them too.
ADVICE : Always write what you blog about on your bio, so that people can easily know your area of specialization.

(6) BEGGING FOR UPVOTE, RESTEEM OR REPLY- This is a complete turn off on Steemit. It simply doesn't work. You get Upvotes, Resteem or Reply on Steemit by putting up good original content that people can relate with. Such contents can be emotional, inspirational, educational etc. Don't beg on Steemit. It destroys your reputation and gives you a bad name.
ADVICE:Just create a good work and let it speak for you. Even if it doesn't get you likes today, someone may still read it tomorrow.

(7) MAKING POST TOO SHORT OR TOO LONG- Nothing is wrong with short post, but not when it’s as short as a simple quote. Short post makes people feel like they wasted their time opening your post. Nothing is wrong with long post too, but no one here on Steemit actually finish a long post, including you. People just skim/scan through, except its really worth reading all.
ADVICE: Always use a Snipet showing the main points of your content first before diving into the post, just like I did right in the beginning of this post.

(8) NOT USING TAGS, USING IRRELEVANT TAGS OR USING ONLY POPULAR TAGS- I won't lie, I made this mistake myself when I was still starting. Use tags because they are very useful in helping people find your post. Use relevant tags because they help people find your type of post easily when searching. Don't use popular tags only, your post gets lost in a minute as more new posts come in every second on the tag.
ADVICE: Take your time and go through all the tags on Steemit and get yourself familiar with them.

(9) NOT USING PICTURES IN STEEMIT POSTS- Pictures are very important in Steemit post, not just because they make your post look attractive but also because they help people understand your post better with clearer imagination and also because they help capture a reader’s attention at first glance. Hence more audience you get.
ADVICE: You can get beautiful pictures from anywhere and use them, as long as you cite the source.

(10) NOT USING STEEMIT CHAT GROUPS- :Steemit chat are very useful especially to newbies or to new Steemians. There are chat groups for Post promotion, Chat groups for Help, General chat groups for fun, and many other useful chat groups. You can also private chat a steemit user just like on Facebook or Whatsapp.
ADVICE : Using Steemit chat group is intentionally the last but not the least, because they will offer you more help from here.
