I'm going to take advantage of the fact that I'm very excited these days to talk to you about a saga of books, it's a brief summary of what each trilogy that composes a wonderful and rich world that I've been reading since I was a teenager.
I'm super fresh because right now I'm reading one of the last of his trilogy. And not to leave you in ignorance I will say that the author is Robin Hobb, is a pseudonym her real name is Margaret Astrid Lindholm Ogden, focuses on writing fantasy books for adults. I will not talk about her trajectory or her life, in these I will focus on the five trilogies that make up the world she created called The Realm of the Elderlings.
1.The Farseer Trilogy
It consists of three books called The Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin and The Quest for the Assassin; all three make up the story of the Six Ducats revolving around the character I identify most in life, Fitz Chivalry Farseer, a King Waiting bastard whose destiny is to be the king's assassin and protect his kingdom from the shadows. In these three books they start from the moment the bastard is handed over to the care of the King to take care of him, so in the whole trilogy we will see him grow up and go through difficulties as a bastard. In addition, he will have to face the difficult task of two problems the War of the Red Candles, a kingdom that comes from the seas to fight against the Six Duchies; and the conspiracy of his uncle the Prince Regio who wants to become the king in any way.
2.Liveship Traders Trilogy
At first, these books did not interest me because I thought they had nothing to do with the previous trilogy, they were not the same characters, nor the same kingdom. Although the same literary universe. I began to investigate and discovered that the two were connected.
The books tell of a kingdom southwest of the Six Duchies, called Bingtown, a small piece of land dependent on Jamalilla Satrapia. What is unique about this place is that it is the only place where the Naos Redivivas are built; merchant ships with the ability to have self-awareness, after three generations pour their lives into the ship. It is given root of a special and magical wood called the Tronconjuros. The conflict arises from Bingtown's search for independence from Jamalilla.
The three books that the structures are: Ship of magic, Mad ship and Ship of destiny.
3. The Tawny Man Trilogy
These are 15 years after the War of Red Candles, following the adventures of Fitz Chivalry Farseer old and sad after his last adventures. The buffoon, a character who appears in both the Farseer trilogy and the Liveship Traders Trilogy, returns to guide his catalyst, that is, Traspié to blame with his prophecies.
In this thread of stories we will see how the first two sagas are intertwined, presenting characters from the Bingtown in the Six Duchies, as we feel the growth of the protagonist, a little more fatalistic than usual. We will notice how the roles are reversed, becoming from disciple to instructor of the children who once inculcated him his education. Another notorious detail is that it focuses on explaining more about the magic of Skill and Wit, fine-tuning more details of the previous story.
The three books are: Fool's Errand, Golden Fool, Fool's Fate.
4.The Rain Wilds Chronicles
It hasn't come out in Spanish yet, and I haven't read them either. But if I have a certain notion of what the story is, only because of small spoilers that I give myself in fan pages. The story I understand are a compendium of different characters, I think mostly dragons and their growth. The plot happens at the same time and after the previous trilogy.
It is composed of the following books: Dragon Keeper, Dragon Heaven, City of Dragons and Blood Dragons. .
5.The Fitz and the Fool Trilogy
Just as the previous trilogy is very recent, no Spanish translation has yet been found. I've also learned about the plot from small spoilers I've been digging.
It focuses again on Fitz's life, but already old and confined with his wife in the old enclosure that his father once lived. This time he will focus more on the race of the Buffoon, called the White Prophets, clarifying once and for all its origin and its growth in everyday life.
The books would be: Fool's Assassin, Fool's Quest and Assassin's Fate.
Concluding
Seguro muchos se preguntan muchas cosas entre ellas que son los Vetulus o que es la Habilidad y la Maña. La verSurely many ask themselves many things among them that are the Elderlings or that is Skill and Wit. The truth if I told them would be to tell them what it's all about. The only thing I can tell you is that the Elderlings are an ancient race that existed and lived with the dragons. In history they are extinct and only conjecture is spoken of, but both are connected with the magic of Skill.
On the other hand, Skill and Wit are magics that look similar, but are totally different. Skill is a magic similar to being a telepath, you can introduce ideas or influence people's emotions with it, in a subtle or violent way. It is also a means of communication between those who carry magic.
The Wit is the magic associated with animals, with them you can feel any living being in the vicinity. At the same time, you can bond with an animal by acquiring its faculties in the process and unite its consciousness to the beast. It is also used as a means to go unnoticed or to influence people. Unlike Skill, this practice is censored in the Six Duchies.
That's all I can tell you about the books, which, by the way, are my favorites. He added that the story is well constructed, none gets boring and instead they can get to sympathize with different characters. Above all, you notice the change in the characters as the story unfolds. Another characteristic is the way the writer captures the different cultures, their customs and their legends. She gives her touch to each one that gives them a vivacity that she had not seen in another author. It is as if they really existed.
