It was a normal day at work. He had never been a morning person. He needed heavy amounts of caffeine to endure the morning. He was typing his patient’s notes in the usual hurry. He was the only one in the room. The rest of the staff was having their breakfast break. He took advantage of this put his earbuds on. Not his playlist, he felt in for something more random. Some yuppie-friendly radio station. Some light variety morning show. As he continued typing his notes he heard the name of the guest singer. Oh, I like her. Soft silky voice. As they announced the next song. The first chords of the song were enough for him to know that it was going to hurt. As the song started he felt transported. He was standing in one of the campus plazas. He felt his heart beating in his chest. It was a cold windy morning but the sun was shining. He saw her. Her dirty blond hair dancing in the wind. Her beautiful green eyes looking at him. How he walked towards her swiftly and hugged her tightly, as tightly as he could. How he tried to kiss her on the cheek but ended up in her neck. How happy he felt just holding her with his face in the roots of her hair. Feeling her softness of her pale skin in his cheek enjoying the sweetness of her perfume. As the song ended he slowly returned to reality. He had left her. He had left the country. He even had married. His coworkers were back into the room and he was triggered by some song like some fucking millennial. Some cold water to the face. Another cup of coffee and some man-the-fuck-up. Oh, and stick to your fucking playlist no more radio and get to work...
