Hello Steemit Friends,
If you're a chronic procrastinator, you probably understand the cycle of putting things off, delaying, hiding from work, and slacking. It is an easy way to get stuck from progressing in life. Most of the time you don't even realize you're doing it! When you knowingly assume the position of an avoider, you create a bunch load of reasons why you should delay the specific task at hand โ its sometimes postponed indefinitely. Identifying the avoidance tactics is your first step to winning this battle. You can also make some lifestyle changes by following these strategies to avoid future procrastination.
Breaking down your responsibilities
The main reason we find ourselves procrastinating is when we subconsciously find the work we have to do overwhelming. If this is the case, you can easily avoid it by breaking it down into little parts that can be achieved separately. Try to focus with one section at a time. If you, later on, find yourself procrastinating after this, break it down even further. As soon as you have achieved one manageable task at a time, it will be simple enough for you to do it whenever! Don't try to think about what you haven't yet achieved, try as much as possible to complete the little tasks you have at hand.
Change of environment
It's obvious that the environment that you're in has a significant impact on your productivity. Look at your room and your work desk? Your room always brings a snuggly vibe while your work desk makes you want to work like a slave. The environment can always give you inspiration to work more and do more. Revamp your workspace and environment to provide you with the motivation of finishing your tasks.
Work buddy
Having a working companion is the best way to make an unbearable situation easier. In this case, your buddy should have the same ambitions as you. You can hold each one accountable for your set plans and goals. It is not always necessary that you each have the same goals. It will ensure that you both spur motivation on the other party.
Tune out digital distractions
Digital distractions are a procrastinators dream come true! As much as you may love checking up on your friends on social media or checking some funny cat videos on YouTube, these distractions take a whole lot of your time. To focus, you need the freedom over addiction of social media. Develop self control that will help you in doing the right thing at the right time.
Be realistic
When you want to get rid of your procrastinating habit, establish a schedule that can assist you in finishing up all your tasks. This will set you up for success. If you have any projects around the corner, keep some extra time off since it may take a whole lot of time. Your schedule should be set up on a realistic basis. Don't set up something that is too overboard.
Don't beat yourself up
Most times we punish ourselves by getting more stressed if we procrastinate. This makes your work even harder. If you never had the time to work on that project or finish that assignment, look on the brighter side. Focus on what you have to do instead. Regret and guilt are draining emotions that will leave you tired and frustrated. Wasting your time beating yourself up will only make it worse.
Start out with the harder tasks
In the morning, you are usually well rested and the most energized. Pick out the hardest task to complete, you will get a better feel once this is completed. This will help you to transition smoothly into the rest of the smaller tasks throughout your day.
Just do it!
If you are looking forward to stopping procrastinating, it all boils down to you making a stance to take some action. You can plan, strategize and hypothesize all you want but without effort, everything is futile. Occasionally most people complain about their situations, but at the end of the day, they just forgot to take action. Nobody ever procrastinated their way to success. It is a one-way road, you either get a grip and do it or nothing will ever change.
Don't wait for the perfect time to do something because now is probably not the best time. Ditch the perfect time reasoning! There is never a perfect time. Just do it!
I hope you enjoy This post !!
Thank you for your comments and votes
Much love, Suzana
The real problem starts after postponing. It's taking people's energy to snooze. Posting something does not destroy it. Everything that is postponed keeps the backplane uncomfortable. If you do not take a step to make the postponement and do the postponed things, the work starts to work from your life energy. If the applications running on mobile phones but not closed and the applications running on the backplane end up charging mobile phones, the deferred jobs finish the people's energy as well.. @suerisue
I like how yo compared it to opening many applications on a phone... interesting way to put it !! It does drains out the phone faster. How about if we put our energy on battery saving mode ? Is that not being productive fully or just a good way to delegate the energy !..? Thank you for your comment
Hahaha! This post is just right for me. I'm a very big procrastinator and I've resorted to different tactics actually. But although some strategies work at first, later on I relapse.
But so far, having a work buddy works best for me. It is very helpful to have someone that could make you accountable of your actions.
It is important to change and try new strategy as soon as one doesnt work. Our minds are so complex that we generate new ways that fits what we wants which is sometimes laziness. I totally understand what you mean.. and i am glad that you are figuring it out and adapting ways for your best self !! Cheers
You're absolutely right! Thank you for your post.
Kudos to you! :)
Good one,Keep it up :)
Good one,Keep it up :)
Work buddy definitely helps!! Unless the both of you give in together to watching funny Dtubes and YouTubeโs ๐
hahahaha that should be called lazy buddies.
i'm currently in need of a work body. i intent to start learning about affiliate marketing and basic e-commerce but i don't want to do it alone. The person i had in mind to be my work buddy isn't showing much interested and i feel fed up of always trying to inspire him. I also wish i knew what to do...
hahaha Thats more like a chill buddy !!

Yes I agree with you. You go a great job on these posts!
The habit of delaying work is very disturbing to the mind. supposing we piled up a million problems and then worked on them at one time. Stress and depression will come. I often cling to the proverb: to be sick first, to have fun later.
Excellent and fantastic post friend, support with contribution by comment

Also writing things down according to their priorities also helps in a great way.
Sometimes we postpone so many tasks, we lose track of them and then managing time to complete them becomes the real challenge.
That is a good one !! needed !! Thank you !!
How recognizable! Thanks for sharing @suerisue
You are welcome !!
What has helped me do away with procrastination is creating a SYSTEM.
For example, my first priority in my life as of now is to participate in Design Crowdsourcing websites and build my portfolio. I started with 99Designs and already done with two contests. So what I do is time between breakfast and lunch i.e. 10-2 is booked for design and nothing else.
This system has helped me achieve enormous focus and productivity in last few months. And credit goes to Deep Work by Cal Newport.
