Have a work schedule

Before you start your day, it is critical to know all you want to do and how you want it done. As a person working independently, you may find it difficult to stick to your plans since you don't have a supervisor with you. To get the most from your time, strict discipline is a must. Write down all you need to do in each day, know how much time you require for each task, then allocate adequate time to each. Consider setting time for breaks.

Train others to respect your work

The notion that you are working from home should not be an excuse for anyone to visit you anytime. If this happens, let them wait until you take a break or come later when you are free. If necessary allow them to book appointments. If you have children, help them understand that even if you are in the house, you need time to work. Act in a professional way.

Avoid meetings in your home

To maximize your time at home, avoid meeting friends there. Their regular visits will be a serious distraction. Schedule your meetings in the hotels as you take your drinks.

Have a plan of your routine activities in the house

Depending on the hours you have set to work. Slot in some time for the family. Have a regular time for your meals. Visits to the kitchen can be one of the most significant distractions if not checked. Once you wake up, take a shower and dress up as you are going to work. You must be passionate about your work.

Hire assistants

Working from home, you may be deceived that you can do all the work in the house. In fact, you need to avoid anything that will distract you. Hire a assist. Before they start, ensure that they have instructions on what they should do in the day, this is to avoid regular visits to your workstation for directions.

Have a designated working area

I possible, set a room that will act as your office. If not, ensure the area you choose is free from distractions. Your working area should have an office-setup with all the necessary equipment and furniture. A quality desk and a comfortable seat are essential

I agree with you about having a designated area for work can be effective. Especially when it is neat and clean. Messy and dirty work area only brings our mood down to work

Yes definitely!!! I waste my time cleaning up most of the time

And itโ€™s always when we just started doing some work that we are reminded to clean ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think if you work near me I wouldn't be able to concentrate haha.

Lol

Good tips but for sometimes there's more distraction at home. Haha... not that there's no distraction at the work place

Also get up and stretch or do some light exercise during breaks to avoid aches & pains & health risks caused by sitting down for long periods.

Yes!!! that's awesome!! I need some stretching for sure

You're so right.

These are good tips. Especially about hiring assistants to do house work so you can focus on your work priorities.

Yes!!! I'm not at that point yet but some of us do!!
