In nearby Carisbrooke Road or The Mall, as it is also known, an old man's heavy footsteps are heard at the same time every morning, trudging down a garden path. No one at the three-storey terraced house can enjoy a lie in. The sound of those work boots plodding towards the back door is enough to wake the dead!

Just across the road, two of the fine old Georgian terraced houses share the shade of a man dressed all in black who has been passing through the party wall.

At the home of Glenda and Peter Knight, the scruffy-looking ghost wearing a long dark coat, has been seen walking into the wall of their spare ground floor bedroom. A few feet away, startled staff in the offices of chartered architect Graham Biggs would see him emerge from the party wall.
