There was a man who lived in a
house with his daughter and her two dogs. The daughter had raised the
dogs from puppyhood. The dogs were well-fed and cared for, and lived in
the warm, comfortable house with the daughter and her father.
The daughter's life situation changed and she had to move out, but she could not bring the dogs with her. Her father said: "Not my responsibility!", and the dogs were ejected from the house.
The dogs now lived outside in a kennel. It was the winter season. They were not even being fed every day. They were cold and hungry and miserable, and all the while, the man stayed in his warm, comfortable house and ate whenever he pleased.
One day, the man's daughter came to visit with her dogs. She took them out of their kennel and took them for a walk. While on the walk, the hungry, neglected dogs killed her and ate her.
It is each person's responsibility to quell pain and suffering
wherever they may be found.
Those who shirk this duty may well find
that these are birds that come home to roost.
