As I stood there, watching the drizzling rain. My mind taken back to childhood memories and fantasies. Lost in thoughts and awaken to reality by my sad mother.
"Close the doors and windows, the storm is coming". "Hey momma, I still have to fetch from the stream, I replied."
Careful on the way, it's not safe out there, she retorted.
Off I went to the stream, with a calabash on my head. My hands dangling to the rhythm of the wind.
Alas, the storm came halfway through the journey. Scared to death I was, on a narrow lonely road. Surrounded to the left and right by a thick forest. With my weightless skinny body, I was almost blown away by the mighty wind.
From nowhere came "my Knight in shinny amour" to help salvage the situation.
With his thick arms and muscles, I felt relieved and protected.
Off he took me back to my home, and I stuttered to mutter a "Thank you."
He left with a failed promise to check on me the next day or the day after. Days passed, weeks and months too, But he never came. He was gone, gone for good, I thought.
I was restored back to factory reset, "The sad old me."
"what has taken your glow my child? " mother asked. With no explanation to give, I brushed it off.
My fairytale brought to reality, when he came knocking on my door. With a rose stuck in his back pocket, I was overwhelmed with joy. After months of waiting, it was MY HAPPIEST DAY EVER.
Weeks later we got married. Everybody noticed the return of the glow and congratulated me. I got to realize that married life is a difficult but fun-filled journey. Finally after 11 months, I gave birth to my first fruit, my beautiful princess.
After carrying her in my hands, I got to realize that it was undoubtedly and unarguably MY HAPPIEST DAY EVER.
