RE: Unpopular Opinion; War is Bad.

(As for one comment far down in the article, yes, I actually did read it all).

The first Bush-Iraqi war: I was pretty young, and I was glued to the news on the TV, fell for all the propaganda, those "smart" bombs hitting exactly what they should hit, Iraqi soldiers pushed back from Kuwait, order restored, everything fine.

Then came the second Bush-Iraqi war. I was in the company with a typical US citizen just before the "shock and awe"-campaign - I don't remember the exact words, but I think he said something like ... "I hope they kill as many of those bastards as possible!" That left me pretty speechless, I could hardly believe what I had heard.

(A friend of mine were hitch-hiking in Iraq a bit later, got arrested by the US forces - "he can't be a tourist, he must be a spy. Nobody can be stupid enough to be a tourist here!")

I'm pretty much against wars, still it can be a bit "damned if you do, damned if you don't"-situation. Should the rest of the world just accept that one country invades and occupies another country? (with Kuwait, I guess it would have been quite acceptable if it wasn't for the oil). Could the Rwandan genocide have been avoided if other countries would have intervened?
