That story about the child being purposefully killed reminds me a bit about current-day China. If someone gets seriously injured in the traffic such that said person will need support for the rest of its life, it can cause heavy indemnity payouts - much higher than if someone gets killed in the traffic. Hence, it's not that uncommon that car-drivers purposefully goes for murder if they have managed to hit someone in the traffic.

As the story goes there was this small child being overrun by a vehicle ... but she seemed to be pretty fine, managing to stand up again shortly after the incident. Sadly, the car came back again in full reverse, overrunning the child a second time and driving some times forth and back to be sure she would be properly dead. I can't understand how people can be that cruel.

Due to the one-child-policy, losing a child also means losing the only child .
