How many of you have heard about kamasutra ?? Everyone I guess, Kamasutra the book of desires and human sexual behavior is considered as the worlds most famous book in its genre and a cultural part of Indian history and society. But do you know who wrote this amazing and ancient Hindu text ? even of those who have read it around the world only few of them have the Idea of who the writer was as he is almost never talked about.
The ancient book of Kamasutra was written by Vātsyāyana a religious student and a great philosopher, his exact years of life and his work could never had been pinpointed but it is believed that he belonged to the era of the Gupts, he used to travel the whole India to learn and preach religious knowledge. Very less is known about him but it is heard that he preached about Tara the Tantric goddess and the Yoni goddess Kamakhya to the tribals and believed human sexual behavior as a medium of attaining spirituality.
Kamasutra is the only known text written by him, and a whole lot can be known by him in this beautiful life lesson he wrote at at the end of Kamasutra which said “This work is not to be used merely as an instrument for satisfying our desires. A person acquainted with the true principles of this science, who saves his Dharma (the virtue), his Artha (wealth) and his Kama (the feeling of pleasure), and who has love regard and respect towards customs of his and other people, is sure to obtain the mastery over his senses. instead of becoming the slave of his passions,he or she will obtain success in everything that they may do.”
didnt know who wrote it but who ever that person is? we shoukd be greatful of him/her.
Amen !
Wow! Sadly but I have never actually thought about the writer... Nice to know ;)
Yeah ... Hope he is happy up there knowing few more people now know him ;)
Hahahah he is probably enjoying himself on some kind of spiritual planet, not caring at all what`s happening here on this sad little planet Earth :D
Fascinating! Have always been intrigued by Kamasutra, never really dove deeper than the surface on the subject. There's some real wisdom in that final quote. Thanks for sharing!
The last quote truely shows .. Kamasutra is not all 'SEX' :)
Everything in this culture is about mind, body and soul. I love that you quoted one should not be a slave to his passion, furthermore uniting the passion and desire with his whole experience and purpose to fulfill life.
Yeah People hear of kamasutra and sex is the only thing what comes to mind ... Hope they get to know the real message behind the art :)
cool!
