Yes, it is. I has been that way since the USA was begun. Some say it's because it is so hot and humid no one wants to exert themselves and waste energy on anger. I think it's because the South was mostly used for farming and the pace of life was slower than in the North where all the factories were located and people ran on tighter schedules and always in a hurry.
One thing for certain, it is a special thing to have problems resolved while sitting on someone's front porch in a rocking chair, drinking iced sweet tea, and talking. Or, just sitting with family and friends and talking the evening away!

I like it a lot! I once refused a major promotion because I did not want to live in or near Chicago! I like the country life and having deer eat our flowers :)
Good to be back here again and am not sure if i can post such lengthy comments anymore as I have a very low RC value. Living with the nature is a blessing and a refreshing thing am sure. I like such lifestyle too :)

I have joined the many hundreds of Steemians who have opened accounts on the new Steemit clone, Weku.io. It is free and is an exact copy of Steemit EXCEPT it does not allow bidbots and it has been designed for people who write and communicate, and does a great many things you may find preferable to Steemit. It may be worth your time to at least set up an account and take a look at it, just in case you want to use it later. I have the same user name there. It is doing an upgrade this morning to improve the future value of the Weku. (It has not been issued yet.)
