The smart traveller has their method down. You pack a certain way, attack the security lines a certain way, and hit on fellow travelers a certain way. The smart traveler knows what they like about their luggage, and if they’re smart (they are) then they have good luggage.
But for the rest of us, what the hell does that mean? Does matching Louis Vuitton luggage good luggage make? Does the hardshell rollers that every millennial girl (and her mom) good luggage make? Does the last two sentences, good sentences make?
Recently, this writer had been traveling a ton and decided to upgrade the carryon that was following me to three continents and through dozens of hotel and customs check ins. I went with the G-RO rolling carryon that features HUGE rolling wheels on the sides, some really awesome pockets, and two external USB ports fed by an internal battery, that you don’t have to pull out to charge your devices. It seemed like the perfect adult luggage upgrade I needed.
But I’ve always been a duffel bag guy. I’ve ALSO always been the type of guy to carry a crappy piece of luggage (or rather one I didn’t mind getting thrown around) because your luggage gets heinously thrown around. Even if you carry it yourself. It’s get stuffed, and poked, dragged and slid, pricked and torn. So why have a nice one?
No really I’m asking.
Personally, I hated the G-RO rolling luggage extravaganza. A. it cost a whopping butt smack of $450 which hit me in the wallet, but was felt in the balls. But outside of that, it just wasn’t my style. It was smaller, and the wrong shape. Didn’t pack the same way as the duffle, and didn’t stuff into my closet when it wasn’t being used. It just existed there in the corner of my room, like, a black nylon, dead R2-D2.
So tell me where I went wrong. Do you like quality luggage? And if so, what’s the brand worth getting?
Ouch! I feel you...well not the balls part, just the wallet bit and the won't slouch in the closet bit...but...my Knomo is now my seventh best friend, except, well she won't charge my peripherals like your GRo!
Selemat jalan!
I am a traveler so i can really understand this. I am very choosie in everything so its always a small amount of luggage with me. But sometimes some things i missed in luggage because of my choosie mind and that cause me problems some times. But i manage somehow. Every traveler know how to manage and survive.

We all need a day to just enjoy life and not give a care about what other people think.....Yeah I cry every time when I remember I dont have to give a care because I hate hurting people's feelings, call me whatever you want. Only great travelers do this!
