WWE needs to show up and show out now.
All Elite Wrestling started off this week with Dark Elevation, Dark, and finally Fyter Fest Night One.
AEW Fyter Fest was a complete show, starting off with a championship bout and ending with a fantastic finish, something that has been lacking in their shows during the past couple of months.
First, there was AEW Revolution 2021 that featured the death match that had the botched ending seen here:

Then there was AEW Blood and Guts that saw Jericho fall on a padded floor (not that it’s really a botch more than being safe…it’s the illusion of what should have been that people didn’t need to see but I digress…)
Spoiler Ahead - Stop Reading Here if you haven’t watched Fyter Fest
Which leads us to Darby AllIn vs. Ethan Page in a casket match to close Fyter Fest, which was great. It had everything from surprises from Scorpio Sky to Sting and with the finish being just as crazy. AllIn manages to get Page in the casket for the win, but ends it with a coffin drop…on top of the coffin! The coffin breaks into pieces and the show goes off the air with that shot.
Finally, a complete ending. No botches. AEW needed this. Their PPVs are always on point, but this closing needed to happen and be successful.
Which leads me to WWE Smackdown! and Money In The Bank (MITB) this weekend. Back in front of crowds, we’re all hoping they will pull something out that’s not been seen over and over again. We’re all hoping that they have a few surprises to show that yes, it was worth the wait.
Considering AEW’s return to crowds has been nothing less than extraordinary, WWE, while not in competition (in a sense…) needs to step back out with a wow factor. This “Go Home” show tonight needs to be the reason I, and you, watch MITB this Sunday.
Otherwise those ratings, which have not been counted too much since the pandemic began, will become a huge metric problem for the company overall.
