The Senate voted to pass the War Powers Resolution in Yemen.
It's not often I am impressed with the Senate, but this is actually a day to celebrate. Senator Lee and Senator Murphy joined Senator Bernie Sanders in a bipartisan charge to stop the United States support of the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. In a 56 - 41 victory, Congress and the people now stand in direct opposition to the genocide of Yemen, in the first use of the congressional war powers act in 45 years.
How exactly the executive branch plans to respond to this is yet to be seen, but hope has been restored to my psyche. This is the first step the US has made in a long time that displays a belief in human rights. Faith in our democracy - still has a fighting chance.
