I agree completely! I came to yoga as a way to stretch while training for a half marathon. I knew there was something magical about it, but could not put my finger on it. It's messy, and honestly, that is one of the things that I love about it.
As yoga teachers we have to keep evolving and keep the integrity of the practice... which is partially my whiteness talking that I feel like I have to keep everything intact! It's such a slippery slope, but I love that I can now name when I am showing up and perpetuating the systematic whiteness of yoga. But if not me, then who (there I go again) so I sit with it, and know that my intentions are in fact pure, I don't want to see the magic of yoga swept away to commerce... its a fine line to walk when this is in fact how I pay my bills.
Keeping eyes on the 8 limbs, having conversations as Arjuna and Krishna in my dreams and knowing where energy get stuck in my own somatic experience are the tools that I most treasure in finding the balance. Yoga is, after all, a balance between creation and destruction. As Krishnamacharya says, coming into understanding and replacing old behaviors with new, more appropriate ones.... but we aren't told what the 'appropriate' ones are! There's the magic again!
YES, exactly! All of that! It's refreshing to meet another who really gets it. I can tell your intentions are pure as it reflects in your way of being. As you said, we keep evolving as well as holding onto that integrity is the key. Thank you for this sharing this comment space with me :c) its wonderful to look into the mirror of self reflection and see another ME waving back! :D Much Love!
Yes!! Have you found any others who get it on steemit? Tag them up, I'm having trouble finding them!
So far you are the first one I've found but I will keep my Eyes peeled 👀.
Am still really new, I'm sure there are a few more souls around here :D and more are joining everyday!
