Had to smile, when I read
They don’t read the room and wait for folks to transition to the next posture. They don’t linger longer if someone is struggling with or slowly enjoying a posture
I started aikido last April and with the really steep learning curve, I'm still on dust level. Thank god, in our dojo, its not like in your new yoga center. You always work with a partner and I am so thankful, they put up with my (lack of) speed.
I tend to be slower than most. I want things to feel right, sometimes to linger for an extra self timed breath or two, and I have a tendency to overthink
I'm the same way, and at this point, I don't think I'm longing for a change of pace. I want to understand a move and do it right. Just like Da Vici said: first obtain accuracy, then speed comes by itself
When the energy flow is right, between the two partners, its like a laying "8", a constant give and take. Of course it gives for a good laugh of the others, when my patner "attacks" and I tell him to hold on and I have to gather up (?) first 😝
Interesting, how you take this new way as a positive challenge. I like a certain structure and I used to be really "fixed" in many things. Now, with my wife never doing anything the same way twice, even when she bakes a cake, I learn to loosen up quite a bit!
