Introducing the Yoga Trail Channel,
Encouragement and Education

So many posts to read! Yay!

It seems like the theme of my week is the distinction between the material and spiritual goals of Yoga. When I learned yoga 45 years ago, I also got a cursory introduction to the religious and spiritual aspects, but quickly diverted to the Americanized Buddhism that was more popular in my crowd.

I did not, as a teen aged male in the 1970s, have any problem accepting that the union of body and mind implied that good Yoga led to good spiritual growth.

But that was then and this is now. Yes, there are people who do Yoga as a form of simple exercise and few people are willing to completely devote themselves to a religion of any sort these days.

Things are really different now, but I still believe that good Yoga will naturally and inevitably lead to a more spiritual practice, no matter your religious or non-religious beliefs.

BTW

How I choose posts to curate : I check for obvious plagiarism, good grammar, and friendly, creative and engaging writing. Then it's a matter of value to the community over how much a post has already earned. I lean towards posts that don't have a lot of votes when I can.
Bhujangasana (Cobra pose)

by @mrs.ginger
Here is a simple pose with hidden benefits. @mrs.ginger lists many but I wanted to add one. This completely relieved the plantar fasciitis I got from walking to classes at college a few years ago. Pro Tip : Don't ever get that, it really hurts.

Sunday Yoga Session
by @saysme
This might be a good discussion to have, I see the comments have a little bit going on already. Be sure to read the post and check out the (short and super speedy) video.

"What is the perfect Yoga body?" by @marceladiomede
So this is a perfect post for me, since I have sworn to never let anyone see me trying to do Yoga. I'm not ready to change my mind about that, but I'm willing to think about it.

Relax before starting your practice by @marceladiomede
This can make a major difference in my workout. I always carry stress into it because of a pretty high level of pain. I have to learn to relax into each pose, as well, I'm telling myself right now, as into the whole session. I need to schedule in a few more minutes to prepare myself properly.

"I completed my Yoga Teacher Training!" Ending on a happy note, please congratulate @raluca on her hard work and accomplishment.

What is Yoga Trail
To encourage great content on Steemit and to support the Yoga community, the Yoga Trail exists as a more chat-like way for Yoga Authors on Steemit to communicate. It is NOT a self promotion site, and only by extension a curation site. The main focus is on communication and support. Please click on the link above and say hello.

@baerdric and @yoga-trail, this is amazing work of collaborating yoga followers. I will be contributing more on Yoga.
Please visit my latest post on Naukasana - The boat pose

Thank you! I hope it helps those looking for this kind of information. I think it will help the Authors, as soon as a few more people start following me!

But most important is that I want to encourage people to write on the subject. I know I am always encouraged when I feel that someone has actually read my post, and my short reviews are just to show that I noticed you and read what you wrote.

I hope to put these out about twice a week, so that every post gets a chance for any extra votes.
