THE BAN ON CODEINE IN NIGERIA

in #youth6 years ago

Based on research to gather fact from conversations with codeine users and from this research have been able to make some conclusions i want to share here
Since the ban on codeine users have shifted to so many other options using drugs like tramadol, rohypnol and even cough expectorant syrups
The ban on codeine has only been able to control the abuse of codeine butbhave little effect on the drug abuse habit of drug users in the country
How many more drugs do Nigerian government have to ban to stop drug abuse in the country?
Instead of focusing attention on banning drugs i have the opinion attention should be shifted to proper sensitization of drug abuse and constant review of the sensitization effectiveness such that proper amendments are done to fix loopholes in the scheme
Drug users are not just going to stop by you banning the drugs
They would just move to tge available alternative
I discovered even paracetamol is abused by Nigerian youths
It should be noted that drug abuse is an issue of worldwide attention which is why their might be a need to review how other countries around the world have been tackling this issue without ban on drugs that are useful in health cases
I would like to know your opinion on this so we can impact knowledge on this concept as i believe social media is the best place to talk about this issue
