Well, this plattform is just 2 years old. When youtube was 2 years old, the HIGHEST possible resolution was 360 and you couldnt upload anything longer than 10 minutes. Here, there is no limit on quality or length.
Not all that smoother either, in some cases there is some buffering but not that much. I mean, of course it depends on wether its allready distributed to the actual nodes and stuff, yes, thats where its advantagous to upload it to the IPFS network before publishing (which in the end requires you to EITHER directly upload it OR instead input the hash that links to the file on the IPFS network, the upload doesnt have to be with the uploader on dtube, i think its more convenient to upload it with go-ipfs and then input the hash in the advanced section of the "uploader" so you dont have to upload it with the "uploader")
I always upload a youtube and a dtube version. So, you can always wait!
