As a recent convert to #DTube, I truly enjoy the lack of Gestapo-like censorship that occurs frequently on #YouTube. Quite frankly, YouTube is a severe disappointment -- I can go on and on about it.
I'm obviously not the only one that feels this way. So many other YouTubers, including very prominent names, have shifted over to DTube, and by logical deduction, the #Steemit social media network.
You'll also hear plenty of voices crying out for the downfall of YouTube, that DTube is the far superior platform. Subjectively and emotionally speaking, I agree with this chorus of discontent.
Objectively, however, YouTube will never die.
Just look at how popular the Google-owned Chrome browser is among #Bitcoin users:
Here are the actual numbers:
Why is this significant? Because the company that owns Chrome (Google) is the same one that owns YouTube!
It doesn't really matter, unfortunately, how much we hate YouTube; the reality is that the rest of the world -- INCLUDING CRYPTO PROPONENTS! -- support Google, and by direct association, YouTube!
Don't get me wrong...
I'm not saying that you shouldn't jump on board DTube because I definitely think you should! I've done it myself and it's been wonderful from a personal perspective.
And yes, YouTube is dead to me. However, being dead to me is a whole lot different than actually being dead.
I just want to share this perspective before anyone makes a critical decision regarding YouTube and its supposed death spiral...just like The X-Files, I want to believe, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
