RE: New Youtube Monetization Changes

in #youtube7 years ago

I think this is incredibly unfair and only serves the big users, who have nothing to worry about. New users, even if creating some quality content, will mostly go unnoticed, as the most common way of getting views is through YouTube's own recommendation system. So, if YT doesn't recommend your videos, you won't get views, subs, or any monetization.

I'm not completely against the 4,000 hours. What bugs me the most is the 1,000 sub requirement. Well done, YouTube, on creating the potential for a massive surge on trash subs for your platform. Also, more view bots as well - some channels pay for this later, but most of them don't, as YouTube is filled with trash.

All in all, this will hurt new, honest users, more than protecting the platform from spammers, as they surely have their ways to influence watch time and subs.

I dont actually know how the recommendation section works. Youtube says that you aren't anymore likely to get recommended If you're monetized. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.

I have already surpassed the 4,000 threshold, I think that Is fairly easy, especially for me since I upload daily. But the subs I will struggle with but I'm ok with that. I only want subs If the genuinely like my content. The only worry Is users are more likely to engage In sub for sub so which Isn't really benefitting anyone.

I agree, Youtube needs a better system to deal with the spammers, old or new, they are an Issue. It seems they aren't focusing on what Is the current issue withing their plaform.

No, I don't think monetization has anything to do with the recommended videos. I think it's more of a description/tag/topic kind of algorithm thing that decided what goes where. It's no doubt that this is the best way to earn views on YT.

This definitely isn't their major problem, and can easily be circumvented with the "sub for sub" thing. I also predict plenty of "watch for watch" messages, or a rise of the view bots.

You're doing it the right way. Problem is you're far from the sub threshold, so this is where the system is unfair. Others will buy some subs or something and they'll quickly be monetized, while others like you have to way a year or more to get some bucks. Not fair, even if for someone who isn't doing it for the money - it's always better to earn a bit from your work, right?

Yeah I can agree, It Isn't fair, I would love to be paid for It, but I can accept that I will be waiting a long time before I can benefit, If ever. I mean It's alright putting In the hard work but people have gotta enjoy your stuff. If In a few years I'm getting nowhere then maybe I will re-evaluate, maybe I won't get anywhere simply because my stuff Isn't good or I'm not entertaining enough. Completely off topic I know lol.
I understand that It Is disheartening and we have to put In more work now than ever. Another reason why I am also on Dtube because I have a better chance of making something from that. I have high hopes for Dtube, now more than ever.

A "few years" is a long time, and that's exactly where YouTube is screwing the small folks. Maybe DTube actually goes big and the ones that joined early will become the next big "DTubers". We can only hope :)

I would love for that to happen as I got straight onto Dtube as soon as It was announced here on Steemit, It would be cool to think that we would be the first Dtube gamers 😅

Well, no one will be able to take that claim to fame away from us, I guess :D

Haha that's It, that's my claim to fame. I'm an original Dtube gamer. Well I have real high hope for Dtube now, better make It big!
