Actual Anxiety

in #youtube8 years ago

I don't know the real root cause, but I experienced actual anxiety while watching this youtube video. I think because I was following along and imagining the timeframes described. That stuff freaks me out for some reason.

I'm sure people can have an anxiety response to MatPat's voice. But that's definitely not it here. I've watched plenty of his videos before, all without this happening 100% until this video.

I think it's just the time being described. It's exactly the same anxiety I felt when reading Stephen King's short story, The Jaunt, for exactly the same reason.

I knew from the beginning of this video it was an incomprehensible time. And I also knew that MatPat would explain it so that it would be a little less incomprehensible. And that's what he did.

So yeah, my heartbeat was elevated by this video. I felt my cortisol levels rise. Weird, right?

I think even weirder is fact that the concept of "eternity" does not have the same effect on me. I guess you can call it tempusphobia.

Do you mean "worry," because I'm not sure how a video can cause the same feelings as experiencing anxiety disorder.

I'm not sure. Isn't "worry" related to anxiety?

Not necessarily, anxiety involves a sense of panic and over a long term. It's kind of like the difference between sadness and depression basically.
