I bought this house a few weeks ago for $207k. It needs a lot of work as it has a 100 year old furnace and fuses still for the electrical system. We finished most of the demo on the house and you can see it below.
Here is what the house looked like when I bought it.
How many square feet is it? I think we have mostly Sears homes in my neighborhood. I think they were kit homes.
2200
Attractive house. Always a little scary seeing electrical in the historic areas.
Yes, that is for sure
Wow; that's a lot of house for the buy! The beauty of an older property, among many, is knowing that it's able to weather the storms...aka sturdy...
The office-like area in the back could easily convert into a small business space...i.e. nail or hair salon, accounting office, counseling services.
I can't wait to see the final results. In many cities this house would easily net 450K +. Of course, as you note, the value of the community determines the 'realistic' value of the property.
Novice's question: Would putting a privacy fence in the small, open perimeter of the backyard increase the overall value of this property?
Btw, that side property could easily convert into a mother-in-law suite or nanny's quarters for those not needing the extra cash.
Thanks for sharing. Real estate is an excellent investment strategy for growing BTC...Oh yeah!!!
Peace.
You are welcome. A privacy fence would help in many areas but may not be worth it here
Many thanks...Not having one certainly wouldn't be a deal-breaker; and, an affordable expense for anyone interested in this property and wanting the added privacy.
Prayers that you will get the best price for it. Please keep us updated.
Peace.
