Sup Steemians!
Super quick steem about our test super chat session LOL!
Today's discovery might just be the final great save for our long suffering relationship with YT. Honestly we were loosing hope after having to start channels over again from scratch. Three times actually.
Being repeatedly deleted, shut down and censored was getting old. Actually me going on about it is probably old too. I know I wrote about it all only a few months ago. π
Going steady with Steemit..
Even before then the tides were already changing. Before dtube there was Bitcoin's watchmybit, I still have hopes for it to make a resurgence. Dtube seems to be steeming in really well too and I hope they iron out the few glitches soon.
So, with all that said it seems for a while everyone was pissed at ol' lady YT and how Google Ads sold us creators out when the big sponsors kicked off about "fake" independent news etc. the whole site go carpet bombed with community strikes! π£ππ€
Talking about YouTube censorship
Then just as people were already looking for alternatives, the big surge in streaming came. I think every social media site supports a live feature now. I'm just waiting for the day someone figures out steemstream! That will be EPIC! Someone must already be on it, I just checked the domain availability lol!
Anyway, I feel twitch was the first time I realized dayum YT been sleeping on the stream movement! Then bam, YouTube makes a move that FINALLY makes sense to everyone! Could this be a come back retribution for all the years of heartache?
#Superchat lands on the YT live app and they hooked us up and it's ready to go! It's a fully functional Paypal, visa, MasterCard monetization system plugged right in to the live chat and synced up with your already existing Google Adsense and YT earnings!
So if you've been having a love / hate relationship with YouTube like me and have been disheartened by the pennies dribbling in per 1000 views. Perhaps give this last chance booty call a try? We're gonna give it a damn good go for sure.
It may even help me pick up on my lack of consistency a little. As it's way more likely that I'll live stream for 10-30mins a day than produce videos like a maniac on there.
Of course as we're polyamorists this is no replacement for Steemit, it's simply an old lover that's deserving of one last fling. Can we all co-exist together? Can she bring in another possible income stream and can we find a way to balance it all!? π€
This could be the missing key for everyone who is on their journey to creating that self-sustainable financial freedom online.
I already know I'm doing plenty of live streams about Steemit. What better way to get people onboard than answering steem Q&A in real-time!
Excited tiMessage ahead. Let me know if you're a fellow YouTuber and what you think of live streaming?
If you're a viewer do you have any suggestions on interesting topics to superchat about? π
Wholeness.
I personally haven't seen a ton of income from SuperChat on YT but we don't have a ton of live viewers there. They live on Twitch for us. And Twitch has come back hard. They'v opened up monetization streams a LOT so even smaller streamers can start to see income from Bits that are spent on the platform.
YouNow is also on a big growth trajectory and people there can tip while they watch as well. (The demographics for YouNow are currently pretty young but there's no reason that can't change. I'm looking at test streams in YouNow soon.)
I will say that in some ways, minus the existence of a Patreon account, streaming has a LOT of potential for monetized content. I would argue even easier that YouTube, since YT payouts per mille are still super low. Direct support from your audience has a much bigger ROI than leaning on ads and have for a LONG time.
I'd suggest diving in and playing with it. You can also simulcast to all at once with some services like Restream.io
Remember too that Twitch and YT both will either demonetize or mute your archives if they find copywritten material. But that only matters if you care about monetization on archives. If you're looking to generate income during the stream then there are plenty of royalty free libraries for music and stuff on spotify and others that can be used as background.
@markgatx Outstanding insights brother! I feel very fortunate especially with your experience. I was on younow in the very beginning when the synced a file to your YouTube automatically. Back then only partners could get tips and then they removed the backup video for non-partners so I was out. Will have another look around for sure, she what's new there.
I'd love to get my twitch going and set up but having issues with account set up, access and verification. That's really been my main hold up from not linking my PS4. When I get back from this trip I'm going to contact them again and if no luck crack on with YT for now.
I really want it to work out there, so we'll see. Thanks for the extra tips about music and split streaming. I used to work with wirecast back in my adult days and can probably figure it out if I can justify putting my hand in my pocket again for that license and a bit more robust hardware.
Anyway, will follow the excitement and man I appreciate the advice. Knew I could count on ya buddy! ππ―
Curious what features you're looking for in Wirecast. You may be able to get what you need in OBS Studio and that's free. Restream is also free unless you want to multicast to some platforms, like Facebook.
Happy to help people when I can so let me know if you need anything.
Oh no I just meant that with wirecast I could split stream and also was just familiar with the shot layouts it had and how to control everything. It was also really easy to modify sources. I know OBS seems to be the gamers choice and yeah of course free is sweet too.
I'm definitely not looking to do anything fancy with my stream right now, not for now anyway. Just getting back into it all seems really exciting to me. If only I could figure out my old twitch account.. soemone else has already nabbed my name so sucks for branding.
Psstt....
might be available. It's not perfect but it's pretty darn closeNice bro.. I've sent in another email to twitch support to help me get in to my old account. That is pretty darn good perhaps I should register that in another email address or something! Thanks for the nudge bro :)
