Hi, guys.
Today I'm presenting one of the next interviews that I made for my Modern Adulthood project. This time my guest was an amazing woman, Australian born Melinda Tankard Reist. Melinda grew up as a farmers daughter. As a young adult, she loved to read books and had a strong stand on issues she felt needed to be addressed to. Her writing and strong believes sometimes got her into trouble and arguments :) However, that doesn’t surprise me, as today she would not be recognized for the incredible work that she does!
Mrs. Melinda is an author, speaker, media commentator, blogger and advocate for women and girls. She is best known for her work addressing sexualisation, objectification, harms of pornography, sexual exploitation, trafficking and violence against women. Melinda is author/editor of five books.
Here are some highlights of our interview:
- The mission of the grassroots campaigning movement Collective Shouts
- The importance of early sexual education
- Helping and Educating the public on the link between pornography & sexualisation &violence
- What can we do against harms of pornography
I am so happy I found Melinda and had a chance to interview her. The internet world came out when I was already in my 20’s. My mom started sexual education when I was just 11. She bought me books to read, and we had this long conversation about sex. She did everything right, thus she was not fighting against the whole digital world out there. That would probably make things harder for her. Nowadays explicit images are just a click away.
My favorite takeaway was how Melinda is educating her children on views of the world around them. We need to stand Collectively and make a difference, especially for our YOUNG PEOPLE!
Was listening to this interview helpful to you? Hit reply and share it with me. I would love to know.
Talk to you soon.
Much love,
SR*
