Pitaya, or Pitahaya, is the common name for the fruits of several species of cacti from the genera Hylocereus and Stenocereus. The English common name for these fruits is dragon fruit (sometimes referred to as "dragonfruit" in Russian-speaking media in relation to drinking).

The fruit weighs 150-600 grams, individual specimens reach a kilogram. Flesh is eaten raw, has a sweetish taste and low calorie. Reviews that pitaya not palatable, are extremely rare, although the taste may seem insipid. It is recommended to eat chicken slightly cooled; It is not recommended to combine Pitaya with dishes with a sharp taste. In addition, it is possible to make juice or wine from Pitaya, or use it for flavoring in other beverages. Flowers are edible, they can also be brewed with tea.

To prepare pitaia for consumption, the fruit is usually cut vertically into two halves. After this, you can either cut these halves into slices (just as a melon is cut), or scoop out the pulp with a spoon. Although the seeds of Pitaya are rich in valuable lipids, they are usually not digested unless they are chewed. The skin is inedible, in addition, it can contain pesticides.

This wonderful exotic fruit straight from the sunny Taya you can try in our sets, and a little dip in the summer!!
