in #zappl7 years ago

March 3, in Washington Square Park, near the triumphal arch of George Washington, a rally was held at which representatives of the Russian-speaking Diaspora and concerned citizens protested about the foreign and domestic policy of the Russian Federation.

In addition, there were demands to release political prisoners, as well as to investigate crimes, the victims of which were civil activists, representatives of the opposition and a number of other persons, who according to the protesters illegally held by law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation. We should also mention the recent anniversary of the death of Boris Nemtsov and the military conflict in Ukraine - issues that are particularly sharply discussed in society.

People who attended the rally believe that the leadership of the Russian Federation is responsible for the murder Nemtsov, former leader of the opposition. He was shot three years ago in the heart of Moscow. According to the official version, the murderers are a group of radical Chechens who have committed a crime because of Boris Nemtsov's statements about Islam.

For campaign participants once again noted that he did not believe the version of law enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation and need to investigate anew, openly and without political pressure from the state.

Another topic of discussion was military action in Eastern Ukraine, where they continue to be a collision between the APU (Armed forces of Ukraine) and illegal militias supported by Russia. Yellow-blue flags and banners on which words of support to the Ukrainian people were written were visible on an action. A number of participants expressed their vision of the situation, and urged all concerned not to stay away from what is happening.

Like last time, we talked with one of the organizers of the rally "For your freedom and ours", Leonid Pharmacist and asked him some questions:

  • How was the action, and there were any provocations during it?

The rally was held peacefully, there was no provocation. The first time we tried to hold our rally in the Park of Washington. There is a very crowded weekend, and many saw our action. I think that this is a very suitable place for such events. The next time you should print booklets to distribute to passers-by and inform people about the meaning of the action.

  • What did you want to convey to the people who saw or attended this event?

  • The rally was addressed by several people. The meaning of the speeches boiled down to the fact that we, the people of America should more actively oppose the Putin regime and its destructive activities in the United States. To educate Americans and to require the representatives in the U.S. Congress to take tougher action against the Putin regime, its individual members, companies and oligarchs connected with the Kremlin regime.

  • How many people attended the campaign according to your calculations?

  • In total there were about 35 people. Unfortunately, the meeting coincided with the ending of the powerful storm, it was cold and a strong wind was blowing.

  • Are you planning any events in the future?

  • While it is supposed that activists will come to the Russian Consulate on March 18 to Express the attitude to so-called "presidential elections of Russia" which will take place this day. More about this action is not yet known.
