Here is a chart put together by Jeffries that shows the data breaches the last 12 years. It is easy to spot the trend. In spite of advancements, our data is LESS secure today than it was 12 years ago (at least in terms of number of hacks)

Interesting stats... looks like hackers are on the rise with breaches increasing by 6x since 2005.
Without a doubt....it is big business these days.....
Countries are engaged in it...so are corporations...as well as individuals.
Something has to give...perhaps it is blockchain that provides people with the safety they need.
I would suspect that the increase has something to do with a greater amount of data being held by a greater number of companies, but in any case, things are certainly getting bad.
While decentralized systems can offer better security on the backend, there's still the fact that the gadgets we use to access those systems are highly vulnerable too. It doesn't matter how secure the network is, if the attacker is inside your computer.
To have real security, we need it on our devices, as well as the networks we access with them.
"Make data secure again" should be our motto :)))
That works....we should make tshirts and hats up. LOL
Yeah it seems like our data is indeed way less secure than it used to be. That's why it's important to be extra careful all the time, because there are so many hackers out there...
Scary thought that really has become a reality in today's day in age. You might think it would be the reversal, but as technology advances, so does the mechanics of those partaking in malicious hacks...
Cybersecurity really will be an enormous game changer, but I am surprised that is has taken this long and we still haven't quite figured it out. Let's hope this trend does not continue in the direction that it looks to be heading.
Steem on,

I think it is a combination that there are more hackers than ever before and they are a step or two ahead of the crybersecurity companies.
It also always favors the hackers....
The security has to be right every time, the hackers can be wrong each time but once. One vulnerability can destroy years of defense.
Yeah, this is a great point. It is quite difficult, as it has proven, to get a security patch just right so that it cannot be breached.
We shall see what lies ahead
We really need to keep pushing the decentralization debate forward.
I agree with you dear
It seems blockchain technology arrived just in time...
Yes I would agree....
It seems the more cybersecurity we get, the further behind we are with the hackers...
They are 3 steps ahead of everyone else at this time.
now the big push for decentralization !!
Yes I agree your opinion
Good look

We really needed to keep pusing the decentralization dabete forward. I like Zapple every post. Thanks for the share.
this is just going to get on increasing with time as the mainstream news will hit
It's a amazing Decentralization.
less secure future that's now the good way to go forward
the trend is clear we need to work on this in real time
with block chain everything will be easy i think
Don't forget, there is also a clear trend in the total amount of available data.
I wonder why there was such a decrease from 2010 to 2011 and 2012. Would you happen to know?
The next world War would not be fought on the beaches of Normandy but behind computers. Data is now the most important resource.
That is why companies are now willing to spend billions of dollars on the security of their information.
Cybersecurity is now a booming business.
