Wow, it is really happening. Venezuela is releasing their cryptocoin the Petro. Is this coin doomed or the next big thing? Also will this force the USA to crack down on crypto even more? Let me know what you think.

I think it's doomed. The government can not be free of corruption nor reliable, the petro is fully controlled by the government, you can not trade it freely and worst of all the value is placed by the current oil price. Is not really a crypto is more like a digital bonds. I'm afraid that It could be used against the population. Thanks for sharing it @xervantes!
Good points, however I never underestimate the madness of the crypto universe. It's going to be interesting to see where this will lead to. I might buy some just to own the first crypto coin issued by a country (as far as I know).
Sounds pretty wacky... @dragosroua posted on this as well / fyi
Yeah, but I also thought that Ripple was a crazy idea and look at that now. Just imagine what will happen if they are succesful, Venezuela will be the first crypto backed country in history..madness.
Yes that's true... I really don't know anything about it. So will the Saudis be next then? (-:
Now that would be a coin I would put all my money into :)
It will be interesting to see what the actual network and blockchain design is going to be.
Yup, I will be following this one closely. Uncharted waters...
Will help each other. follow and vot me @xervantes
