Zcash is coming closer to updating the hard drive with the completion of the "Powers of Tau" activation event. A feature developed to prepare Zcash's second hardfork plan in 2018.

At this event, developers, community members as well as other contributors created the random code for the Zcash security protocol to make it more secure. Notably, attendees can only remove random code used to secure the protocol by destroying their computer or wiping out the device they use to generate the data.

This procedure prevents individuals from having bad motives, attacking protocols or creating fake tokens.

Sean Bowe, a member of the Zcash Foundation, announced the successful activation of the "Powers of Tau" privacy protection feature that was successfully held in the project's mailbox:

According to Github, 90 individuals and teams attended the ceremony, each using a unique approach to creating protocol security codes.

All these actions are taken to prepare for Zcash's second hardfork plan in 2018. While some members of the Zcash community are preparing for the first hardfork, dubbed the Overwinter, "Powers of Tau" is targeted specifically to the more potential hardfork than Sapling.

In the near future, Sapling will introduce a number of new features, including payment expansion, blockchain interactions, and the release of Zcash tokens.
