02:30 PM EST, 02/13/2018 (MT Newswires) -- Zion Oil & Gas (ZN) is up more than 35% in Tuesday's afternoon session after the company said it encountered oil at its Megiddo-Jezreel well in Israel.

The company said the discovery of free-flowing hydrocarbons was made during open hole wireline logging and cleaning.

"After circulating the well, we experienced a continued and significant increase in gas followed by clear evidence of oil in our circulated mud from the bottom of the well," said Chief Operations Officer Dustin Guinn. The company has decided to continue to drill up to another 70 meters as a result of the discovery.
