Zoom's stance on providing encryption for Calls

in #zoom5 years ago

Zoom is no doubt a very popular app among masses for group video calls and its widely right now because of Covid-19 situation. I can understand why people use it, probably because of its simple and easy interface. It is light to use as compared to other heavy counterpart softwares.

Despite its popularity, founders of Zoom don't want to provide encryption feature to their users and just want to comply with government agencies. They are trying to treat privacy as premium feature and saying that it can be available for premium users only. It is an irony in itself because data of those premium is surely available with Zoom company.

I still don't understand why people just blindly ignore their privacy rights and can't fight alternative for more secure options. There are many available right now. I agree there is still a room for improvement but we have to take first step of valuing our privacy and select better options which are more trustworthy.
