If Houdini would have been alive today, he would have loved these knives as long as he did not have to pay the high price. I went to the local Ace Hardware on a mission looking for a set knives. When I finally found the store that had these Zyliss knives, it was not hard to see the beauty of these knives. This set was only 9.99 for three different size (lengths) paring knives.
Description
This set of 3 colored (green, orange, purple) inspired knives are made of the best hardened surgical stainless steel blade, the handles are ergonomically sound and are made of ½ rubber and the other ½ is made of a hard plastic, these will fit comfortably in anyone's hands. But, you will need to watch out for the little children around these knives they are very sharp and stay sharp for just about ever. The warranty on these knives is probably better than most you will get a 5 year warranty. When you see the Zyliss name on a product, you can expect a decent warranty and you can be sure that they are Swiss made. But, If for some unknown reason the blade becomes dull, you're not stuck with it, and If the handles break they are also covered. Just take them to your nearest dealer and they will happily replace it.
You get a total of three knives and each of them come with a matching colored sleeve. The handle is a colorful curved piece of stylish plastic, so that when you are done chopping your vegetables, you just scoop them up and dump them into a bowl or something. You will be able to do this with ease and no fatigue to your hands.
Each sleeve will hold and protect the steak knives snugly while in storage. You can buy these knives separately or in sets. But it does cost more to buy them by themselves. Each knife is a different price, each knife can cost up to $18.00 ea. These are especially nice for coring apples and peeling all sorts of vegetables. The blades are approximately 3-1/2", 4", 5.5" long.
Uses
I found this very nice to handle when cutting lettuce. Onions and carrots don't stand a chance. With the amount of accuracy you can fly through an onion in a few seconds. The 4" knife has a serrated edge, which makes it easier to go through a tomato without smashing it. The fruit slices like butter, and you will have no problem with ever slicing tomatoes again. The serrated edge helps cut through a loaf of bread without crushing it. This costs about $40.00 ea. But it's really your preference and your needs might be a little different, depending which knife you are more comfortable with.
Conclusion
I would highly recommend this set of knives to anyone who wants to make their job easier in the kitchen. It would be a very nice addition sitting inside your utensil drawer. You will probably get a lot of compliments on the looks of these. They are very appeasing to the eye and stay sharp. We have been using these for several months now and could not be happier.
